Parades, Legos, Matching Cereal

Connor marched with the Boy Scouts on Veterans Day.  I am so proud of him because he understands the importance of the day. All the boys take the parade and listening to the speakers very seriously and I know how hard it can be for 8 year old boys to keep it together without laughing, poking, etc. for that long. But they do.

Town councilman's pup, she is not impressed.

Connor also built a really cool lego, with no help from his father!

Lastly, Charlotte likes to match her sweaters to her cereal in the morning........

My Brother Is A Fascinating Storyteller

Connor wanted to get the new Star Wars Angry Bird app for our Ipad. I told him it would cost him a few chores. He set the table, vacuumed the family room , took out the garbage, finished his reading for school, and had to read Charlotte 4 books. He did everything diligently, he really wanted that app, but when it was time to read to his sister, she wasn't in the mood to listen...but that is just the way she listens when you read to her. She walks around the room, picks up toys, mumbles a few tunes. But I know she is understanding what is being read to her, she will tell you the story when you are done reading it. Too funny and Connor was very patient, and he got his app!

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

The craziness continues here in NY. We had just got power back after 9 days without, and we were walloped with a Nor'easter, in November!! Connor missed another day of school but thankfully we did not lose power again, many others did.

My sister in NJ still does not have power, 2 weeks later. My room mate from college has been living in a hotel for two weeks with her family since her home flooded, and cousins had to flee their home from falling trees and active power lines with help from the fire department.

Still, when I talk to the people I know, every one's attitude is, what can you do?? Move forward, wake up, clean up, and do your best.  One storm, step, at a time.

Sandy

Sandy, Sandy, Sandy....what can I say. We are safe, our home is not damaged, it's all just little inconveniences compared to so many others. We have made it through this week without heat and power, but have survived on being together and hoping for the best each day. Nothing like the devastation that many others are dealing with.

With no school this week (Connor's elementary schools roof blew off!), the kids have been so great keeping themselves busy, playing outside , playing with toys. Makes me want to get rid of the TV.
So kidding!

We were able to do some local trick or treating on Halloween. Didn't want to take that away from the kids, and hey, you don't have to heat up candy!

As of today, one week from Sandy, we still have no power. We made the trip to my parents who thankfully have all utilities. We are enjoying the hot showers, hot food, and warm beds.   School should be back on Tuesday, a new school for Connor, and we will get back to living.......
