Christening Day

We held Charlotte's Christening on Saturday. What a wonderful day. It was held at the Chapel at our church and was a private service, just our family. It was very personal and special. Father Francis had met Charlotte at least 5 times before, so I think she was comfortable with him the whole service. Godparents Aunt Eileen and Uncle Jim did a great job as did big brother Connor once again. Our celebration dinner was a lot of fun too. Lots of laughs and good food, the perfect day. Did I mention how beautiful Charlotte looked in her dress!!! My niece Laura had worn the dress 11 years ago. That made it more special !!
Thank you Lucille for taking pictures that captured the whole day!

What's new?

Charlotte has been so much fun. She is really blossoming in her personality. She is really funny too. Loves to laugh and make us laugh. Such a joy. She is still crawling fast, holding on as she walks, but won't let go yet. Soon.

Happy Mother's Day

Reflecting on how special this Mother's Day weekend will be for our family. Bringing Charlotte home has been the most wonderful experience of my life. I hope that I can be the Mother that she will be proud of when she is an adult as I am proud of my Mother. Thank you again to all the special great women in Charlotte life already. She has the best Aunts in the world and beautiful women in her life to look up to. I will also be thinking of the woman who gave Charlotte life on Sunday. I don't know the circumstances of Charlotte's  birth, but I do believe she was a strong and very brave woman. Charlotte will always know that too. She is very loved.

Connor already made me a special card. Nothing like homemade cards!!! I am so proud of him being a big brother. He makes Charlotte laugh the loudest. They give each other hugs all the time. I am one happy Mama!!

Who Knows? Could Be?

When I was waiting for Charlotte for the past five years, I couldn't help but pick up every Disney Mulan related item that I saw. It just helped me seem a little closer to the little girl who would one day be my daughter. I also purchased the Chinese Barbie and a few Asian baby dolls from Corelle.  They are sitting on shelves in Charlotte's room, waiting to be opened and played with. I don't really mind if she doesn't like them. She may not even like dolls. I wanted  her to have dolls that looked like her, but I am not even sure how important that will be to her.  It just was something to hold onto while I waited , something to look at and dream about. I must admit I did like the movie Mulan, and watched it many times with Connor. I particularly like that Mulan is strong willed, beautiful, loyal, and loves her family.

Last week I put Charlotte to sleep and I am guessing she wasn't that tired. I was in the kitchen and heard her throwing her stuffed animals out of the crib, a game she plays once in a while. I checked in on her five minutes later, it was too quiet and saw she was sound asleep. Every stuffed animal was out of that crib but one, a plush Mulan doll. I'm not saying she held onto Mulan on purpose, but it was a special moment for me too see my daughter finally holding one of those dolls. And yes, I took pictures, I couldn't resist.

Everybody out!

and one stays.
